Toyota Corolla Altis GR Sport OMR
Toyota Gazoo Racing Thailand were at Chang International Circuit for races 3 and 4 over two days on 13/14 September 2025.
Race 3 for each category took place on Saturday with race 4 taking place on Sunday.
• Toyota Corolla Altis GR Sport One Make Race
With one race win and a second place in the Toyota Corolla Altis GR Sport One Make Race for #3 Kentaro Chiba from Japan in the ORC Racing Motul car and Thai driver Rotor Thonghua in the Superclub Racing Team #17 car both will be hoping to capitalize in race 3. However, neither excelled in the qualifying session for race 3 starting P5 and P7 respectively.
When the lights went green the pole sitter #90, Naruenonpath Ratchalesinthon in the PT Maxnitron Wise BRD Nexter Venom by Vanguard Garage car was outpaced by 2nd on the grid #9 Sittichai Kungnimitr in the SpeedRev Racing By NCL Service car. Coming out of the corner #10 Akalavut Mankalasut in the TOYOTA Racing Star Team car and #3 Kentaro Chiba also passed the two slow starters and battled side by side for 2nd place. Meanwhile, #90 Naruenonpath Ratchalesinthon and #89 Varunchit Wattanathanakun in the WISE OR by Ruk Team Wing Hin Motorsports machine were slipping down the order. #90 Naruenonpath Ratchalesinthon eventually pulled off of the circuit with a mechanical issue before completion of the first lap.
P1 and P2 were pulling away from the following pack with 3rd placed #10 Akalavut Mankalasut battling to keep #89 Varunchit Wattanathanakun behind him. After several laps racing nose to tail and side by side #89 Varunchit Wattanathanakun finally made the move a move on #10 Akalavut Mankalasut and made it stick.
#89 Varunchit Wattanathanakun and #10 Akalavut Mankalasut continued to race nose to tail but stayed in P3 and P4 respectively to the flag which was taken by #9 Sittichai Kungnimitr in P1 and #3 Kentaro Chiba in P2.
Race 4 also started with close racing, this time the leading three at the end of lap 1 were #89 Varunchit Wattanathanakun in the WISE OR by Ruk Team Wing Hin Motorsports machine P1, P2 #9 Sittichai Kungnimitr in the SpeedRev Racing By NCL Service car and #10 Akalavut Mankalasut in the TOYOTA Racing Star Team car.
Car #90, Naruenonpath Ratchalesinthon was having a torrid weekend, this time being nudged into a spin dropping him to the back of the field.
Meanwhile at the front end #9 Sittichai Kungnimitr was in the lead followed by #89 Varunchit Wattanathanakun, #10 Akalavut Mankalasut and #17 Rotor Thonghua in the Superclub Racing Team in close pursuit.
Superb close racing was being made by all cars, unfortunately on lap 6 car #17 Rotor Thonghua started to drop back due to an engine issue eventually parking up on the side of the track.
At the exit of turn one with three laps to go race leader #9 Sittichai Kungnimitr was passed on both sides by #89 Varunchit Wattanathanakun and #10 Akalavut Mankalasut. Coming into turn 3 they were 4 abreast, joined at the party by #3 Kentaro Chiba who could smell an opportunity. He eventually went P3 and then P2 when #9 Sittichai Kungnimitr went wide.
The finishing order then was P1 #89 Varunchit Wattanathanakun, P2 #10 Akalavut Mankalasut and P3 #9 Sittichai Kungnimitr.
Car #3 Kentaro Chiba did cross the line in P2 but was given a 10 second penalty for continued abuse of track limits which dropped him out of the top 3.
